Crochet Pillow

I needed something for my living room, so I used various ideas from crocheters the web over, and this is the end result. Very simple, and since I did not use a pillow form (used fiber-fill), then I had a little more freedom in how much rows I could do. So, at the end of the day, its totally up to you how big or small you want it. It looks lonely though, will make another one which says 'Family'. :) Hope you like.

Stitches used:
Ch: chain
sc: single crochet
rsc: reverse single crochet or crab stitch

Materials
less than 1 skein of major color (MC)
less than one skein of contrasting color (CC)
US size G hook (4.25mm)
Tapestry needle

First side
Foundation rnd:
With MC ch 63
Rnd 1
sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, turn
Rnd 2 - 52 (or as much or as little you want)
sc in each sc, ch 1, turn
weave in ends

For the writing, I used embroidery chain stitch with a tapestry needle. If you can find a washable marker, measure and write whatever you wish to write or design. Also, you can do a running stitch so you have a line to follow for the embroidery design.

Second side
Foundation rnd:
With MC chain 63
Rnd 1
sc in second chain from hook, ch 1, turn
Rnd 2-4
sc in each sc, change color on last sc, ch 1, turn
Rnd 5-6 (CC)
sc in each sc, change color on last, ch 1, turn
Rnd 7-24
sc in each sc, change color on last sc in rnd 24, ch 1, turn
Rnd 25-27 (CC)
sc in each sc, change color on last sc, ch 1, turn
Rnd 28-46
sc in each sc, changing color in last sc in rnd 46, ch 1, turn
Rnd 47-48
sc in each sc, change color in last sc, ch 1, turn
Rnd 49-52
sc in each sc, ch 1, turn
Weave in ends.

Holding both sides together, join with MC and single crochet around three sides. Fill with Fiber fill and close  third side with single crochet.
Edging, join with CC, rsc all around. Finish off and weave in ends.
